our son was born on my birthday so there is a double celebration every year in our house! it's also the perfect time to get fun mail in our mailbox! this is the card that michael received from his friends, mia and avery in north carolina! isn't is fabulous? celebrate your day!

there is a place ... it's called black butte ranch and there is a great art festival this weekend there! it's outside of sisters and the fair is friday, september 3rd 4-7 and saturday, september 4th 10-4. come enjoy central oregon, local artists, and these views. photo courtesy of my dad - isn't it great?

an apple a day!

today is applesauce day! we have oodles of plums that i froze as well so one batch will be regular applesauce while the other will be plum-applesauce. yummy! it will taste so good in the winter when it's cold and rainy outside!

lots o' lavender!

harvested lavender today in anticipation of the lavender festival this weekend at the blue heron herbary on sauvie island. in addition to great goodies made from lavender they have plants, gift items and a heck of a view! there will be an artisan fair there as well with clothespin cards, paintings, purses for kids, tutus and hair barrettes, glass, and some others to be determined! hope to see you there on sunday, july 11 from 10-5. address is 27731 nw reeder road, sauvie island.

it's finally summer (hopefully!) here in the northwest and it seemed appropriate for a garden card giveaway! these 10 cards can be yours - all you need to do is send me your favorite with some of the ingredients on these cards or a favorite summer memory! winner will be picked thursday, july 1st at 5 pm DST. good luck and can't wait for some new recipe ideas!

so many things to be thankful for this early spring. the great weather. homemade spaghetti sauce on the stove. friends bringing fresh salmon by the house for dinner. clothes hanging on the line (yes, in Oregon in February!). hope you're thankful for lots of things today and maybe someone deserves a thank you card in their mailbox this week!

I've had a stack of oil cloth for so long and finally ventured out and started sewing it on cards with fun quips (albeit crooked on this card!). hope it makes you feel sunny! remember to send a card to a friend today!

i'm a vendor - farm chicks 2010!

this is sooo amazing and i am honored to call myself a vendor for this show! i can't wait!

typing through the tulips!

this is the sheet that starts the process .... the word is typed over and over again on a sheet of paper. it gets a bit dizzying if i continue to look at it while i type!

...the sharpie comes into play with the tulip sketches and then....

the colors are filled in and the fabric paint makes the stem. tulips are my absolute favorite flower and i hope these put a smile on your face as well.

it was sew monday!

so after many tries i might have the hang of my sewing machine. found some upholstery samples and made surfer shorts for a client in maui. hope she likes them! aren't they cute? hang ten!

typing and vegetables!

have been typing madly to create an inventory for upcoming sales this year...currently, i am producing fruit and vegetable cards. i love them but the amount of typing i am doing makes the words look misspelled by the end of the page! check out the farm chicks blog (www.thefarmchicks.typepad.com) as they posted the first announcement of this year's show! yeahooo - can't wait to be there!

warm winter weather

it's been warmer than normal here in portland and it makes me think that harvest season is right around the corner. unfortunately, it's still january. this picture makes me smile and reminds me that the fruits and vegetables are coming!

i always think that january would be a hard month to have a birthday after all the hoopla of the holidays...so to all those that have a birthday in january - here is your candle and wish for a great birthday!
